For Explorer Homes, green building is not a gimmick or trend, but the direction we are sailing. Right now, everyone has not caught on to the need or savings associated with this concept, so that is why we offer a wide array of options in hopes that our homes will make a difference by showing more people how easy it is to turn your home into a hybrid.

Green living starts with planning the way a home is situated on the lot in relation to the mid-day sun. The lifecycle of the home is the next consideration, including, how much energy it took to make it, how much it uses and what will become of it when it is too old to live in. Finally, we spend time with each homebuyer, teaching them the most efficient ways to use their home in order to enjoy it more while costing them less.

The following table shows the many green options we offer for those homebuyers wanting to add to our included features. You can get an idea of what these items will cost using the calculator provided. If enough features are selected we will have NAHB certify your home as Green. Additional features like full solar/wind, geothermal heating/cooling, steel framing, insulated concrete forms, formaldehyde free products, and others are available upon request.
